VALREC is the Virginia home of Project Citizen , a classroom program that links students to their communities through civic engagement.   VALREC also co-sponsors with the Center for Civic Education a National Advanced Civic Studies Teacher Institute at the University of Virginia, which relates themes from the American Founding to current public issues.
